marriott marquis chicago hotel near near south side, chicago g guest user 2023.04.24 our six night stay was surprisingly quiet. population was sp**** in the south loop. and there wasn’t a close by mall or large grocery store. but the main attractions like the zoo, art museum, science museum can be easily reached by cab. by 10am, there are almost no cars on the street on the weekend. felt isolated and alone walking on the street. the district at night has it’s dangers. robbery is rampant; but at least you won’t be killed. friendly advice from the hotel. the room rate is high yet didnt include room slippers or toothbrushes. water bottle wasnt free; charges were $6 a bottle. but i did enjoy the food hall on the ground floor and prices were reasonable at $10 for a fresh large salad or $14 for a pizza. the ramen noodles wasn’t too good though. the meat was dry and 8 slices too many. the food hall is only opened when the hotel has high occupancy (i was told). there is a small refrigerator in the room. free of charge. we asked for a late checkout and the answer was a clear ‘no’. even with a marriott membership, an extra hour was not possible. our room was very clean and with a good view; floor to ceiling window. very comfortable stay. any improvements? the front desk lady could have been more welcoming or friendlier maybe. show more
