hilton boston back bay hotel near fenway kenmore,boston m matthew papino 2024.03.17 the hotel room's thermostat was set at 68 degrees f when we entered but we found it to be quite warm, so we turned the thermostat down to 65 degrees, then further to 62 degrees because the room was still quite stifling. around 2:00 a.m., uncomfortable and sweating while trying to sleep, we called the front desk and told them that we had lowered the thermostat to 60 degrees f but that the heat was just as warm as when we first entered the room (there was no way to measure it but i'm guessing it was close to 80 degrees). the front desk told us that the thermostat only controls the heat; that is, lowering the temperature will not actually cool the room or turn the heat off. they told us that the only way to stop the heat was to turn it off. we were also advised to open a window, which we did; but the noise from the city outside did not help us get a good night's sleep at all, and the room took a while to cool down enough to be able to sleep comfortably. this one issue---the extremely warm and uncomfortable room---is enough to make us not return to this hotel in the future. show more excellent 104 reviews 4.3 /5 price from us$193 per nignt check availability
