Day 1. Welcome to Iceland!
Upon landing at Keflavík Airport, collect your luggage and proceed through customs. Pick up your rental car at the airport and make your way to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, consider exploring the fascinating Reykjanes Peninsula, a UNESCO GeoPark.
Reykjanes offers an excellent introduction to Iceland’s unique geology and volcanic activity, having been the site of eruptions between 2020 and 2024. The peninsula is dotted with striking features, from craters and lava cliffs to fissures and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge itself. A visit to the surreal Gunnuhver area is also highly recommended, where you can witness colorful mud pools and bubbling steam vents.
No trip to Reykjanes is complete without a visit to the world-famous Blue Lagoon, the perfect way to experience Iceland’s hot spring culture.

southern coast of the Reykjanes Peninsula to the charming village of Hveragerði
for your overnight. This village is one of the few sites in the world located
directly on top of a geothermal area and, because of its many greenhouses
heated by hot water from nearby springs, it is often called the “flower
village.” There are plenty of outdoor and wellness activities to enjoy here,

For a traditional and rustic hot spring experience, consider visiting the Hvammsvík Nature Area as you leave Reykjavík.
If you're a history enthusiast, a stop in the town of Borgarnes is a must. Visit the interactive Settlement Museum to learn about the first Viking settlers in the area. Then, explore the breathtaking Hraunfossar, also known as the Lava Falls, where glacial meltwater flows through unique lava formations. After exploring Borgarfjörður, continue your journey into North Iceland.

Day 6. Depart Iceland
Drive back to Keflavík International Airport, ensuring you leave your Reykjavík hotel at least three hours before your flight. The drive to the airport takes about an hour, and check-in begins two hours prior to departure.
If you haven’t yet visited the Sky Lagoon or the Blue Lagoon and have some extra time, consider making a stop at one of these hot spring experiences on your way to the airport. For this detour, plan for an additional 2 to 2.5 hours to fully enjoy the hot springs.
